Am I the only one who marches towards the summer like there's no tomorrow?
I do it every year (no excuses!) after the holidays, even though the winter has barely started and it's still heavily snowing outside. I just cuddle up on my sofa and start scrolling through online shops, looking for that perfect summer outfit.
Here are my summer outfit top picks!
Floral is a huge fashion trend, especially during the spring and summer seasons. If you’re a fashion enthusiast but you’ve never put together a floral-themed outfit before, you’re definitely missing out. I personally love donning at least one floral piece in my attire just to add a little summer feel to an otherwise non-summer outfit. Yes, it’s as simple as that!
If you like dresses, you should check out this tie-waist floral-print voile midi dress (Apiece Apart, €420) or this stretch-silk satin midi dress (Bernadette, €795). You can also pair this ruffled georgette blouse (Miu Miu, €1,190) with a plain skirt or this crepe de chine midi skirt (Bernadette, €475) with a plain blouse for a simple yet still stunning summer outfit.
White looks totally amazing in literally any season, but it’s absolutely striking during the summer! A monochromatic all-blanc fashion is very low-maintenance and needs little to no planning whatsoever. Not to mention, there’s something about white that looks both carefree and classy at the same time–perfect for those laid-back summer days when you just want to relax while still staying in style, right?
Need an example of a perfectly chic and elegant summer outfit? Match distressed high-rise straight-leg jeans (Isabel Marant, €320) with an embellished linen top (Cult Gaia, €240) and a pair of white leather sandals (Gabriela Hearst, €650). And if for some reason, you need to cover up, you can always grab a white denim jacket (3x1, €332) to finish the look.
Of course, it’s not summer without all the swimwear! ‘Summer’ is practically synonymous with the word ‘beach’, so it’s only natural that these babies would be included in my summer outfit top picks. While I’m personally a huge fan of two-piece bikinis, I have to admit that there is some allure to choosing one-piece swimwear too. After all, they can hide problem areas while still flaunting what needs to be emphasized, so what’s more to like?
Some of my favorites include this simple but sexy Violetta swimsuit (Three Graces London, €275), this backless black and white striped swimsuit (Norma Kamali, €138), and this leopard print bikini (Ganni, €129).
Accessories are super important and you shouldn’t ignore them either! To put it simply, they’re the easiest, and most of the time cheapest, way to glam up an outfit instantly without having to buy a lot of new items. Summer is all about flaunting what you’ve got, and that list includes must-have summer accessories too.
These silver and gold-tone Swarovski crystal hoop earrings (Alexander McQueen, €350) for example would make an amazing addition to your summer outfit. Throw in this straw beach tote bag (Prada, €1200) to the mix and your all-white ensemble is now complete!
Don’t forget about your beauty essentials for the summer! This should be the season when you’re most conscious about your skin, due to the change in weather conditions. I actually have a vitamin C serum (Omorovicza, €115) that I use daily all year-round before applying a good amount of sunblock. I also like spritzing some good ol’ citrus perfume (Tom Ford Beauty, €132) for a fresher, more feel-good vibe that’s perfect for the summer.
As for makeup, I believe that summer is all about keeping things au naturel, so I try to lay low on the heavy stuff during this season. Besides, thanks to the warm summer glow, I find that I can already look fantastic with just a bit of cheek and lip tint (Rodin, €40) and a touch of SPF highlighter (Petiue, €32).
And that’s it for pretty much everything in my list of summer outfit top picks. There are some things in my favorites list that don’t belong anywhere, like this bodysuit (Brunello Cucinelli, €890) that works as a great alternative to a tank top and this pair of high rise jeans (Redone, €230) that go really well with both floral and white themes. There’s also this pretty animal print dress (Ganni, €209) that I just love pairing with anything I can get away with. Yes, even if it’s only spring. After all, I just can’t wait for summer!
