Our Favourite Skincare Products to Use This Winter

Winter Skincare
Kevin Laminto /

No one can deny winter's kiss, not even our face. As the cold winds blow and white snowflakes fall, our skin shiver down to the pores, making it pale, dry, and dull. We don't get to cover 100% of our body, so we have to protect the exposed parts from the tiny gaps of our snowy wardrobe. Fortunately, a potent winter skincare routine can do just as good. Here are our must-haves!

Avene, Vichy, Kiehl's, Weleda, Biotherm, Carmex, Darphin, La Roche-Posay, Therme Skincare.

Too much moisture and you get product build-up (and potentially, acne inflammation). Too less, and your skin becomes scaly and sucked-out of life. What you put on your face is very important this season, but you need to be picky. Stash away what you've been using this summer; they won't do. Fortunately, these products can keep your skin soft, supple, and glowing even through the cold.

Ultra Facial Cream, Kiehl's. Packed with Glacial Glycoprotein and the powerful Squalene, this lightweight moisturizer eases winter's spell on your face with its 24-hour hydration.

Skin Stress-relief Vetiver Mask, Darphin. The amber-hued detox oil mask in gel form may just be your holy grail this winter. With golden flower petals enriched with Vetiver, your skin is nourished, soothed, and radiant, warding off signs of dehydration and dryness.

Lip Balm, Carmex. The world's all-essential lip balm heals chapped lips, whatever the season. Get a tube and keep your lips plump, red, and healthy.

Aquasource Cocoon, Biotherm. This jar of pink goodness gives your skin 48-hours of intense hydration, with the lightweight sensation of gel. Perfect for all skin types (including sensitive skin, it's your all-year-round solution for keeping your face glowing.

The icy temperature can wreak havoc on your skin, especially your hands. Keep away from creams with high alcohol content. Switch to lipid-free cleansing soaps and treat your hands at the first signs of dryness. And, instead of going to your good ole petroleum jelly, why not try other moisturizers that will relieve your palms from the unwanted dryness, cracks and fissures?

Lipikar Xerand, La Roche-Posay. This non-greasy moisturizer repairs and restores the cutaneous barrier and protects it from pollutants.

Granatapfel, Weleda. Made potent with pomegranate oil, jojoba and macadamia nut, this Germany-helmed product promises to nourish the skin, improve elasticity and prevent it from drying out. Plus, who wouldn't adore its lovely scent of orange and vanilla?

The freezing spell is already making you shiver. Without immediate care, your skin can lead to cracking, and even bleeding. Heat from indoors robs the air of its natural moisture, and hot baths strip your skin off its essential oils. Protect your body from sub-zero temperatures by slathering it with these moisture-rich, nourishing lotions.

Cold Cream, Avene. A gorgeous mix of pure white beeswax, pharmaceutical-grade mineral oil and the brand's own thermal spring water. Suitable even for infants, this rich cream nourishes, soothes, and protects the skin from the harmful elements of winter.

Ideal Body, Vichy. This paraben-free, skin firming lotion is packed with Hyaluronic Acid and 10 essential oils to keep your skin supple, firmer, even through the frozen climate.

Energizing Body Mist, Therme Skincare. Blessed with light floral notes, this revitalizing mist moisturizes the skin and invigorates your senses, especially on days you can't take long baths. If not on your skin, you can spray it on your bed to create a soothing aroma as you go to sleep.
